AABA Law Foundation
The Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Chicago Area Law Foundation (“AABA Law Foundation”) was established in February 2009, and is a charitable and educational affiliate of AABA.
The purpose of the AABA Law Foundation is to organize charitable and educational activities, including, but not limited to the:
(i) granting of scholarships to law students, and
(ii) funding or contributing towards grants and fellowships for attorneys working in not-for-profit organizations serving the needs of the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community.
The AABA Law Foundation engages in a variety of activities designed to accomplish the following goals:
- Provide financial assistance to Asian Pacific American law students who have demonstrated academic excellence and social leadership;
- Support the development of internships and fellowships in the area of public interest and community service relating to the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community;
- Assist in conducting legal scholarship and education with respect to legal issues affecting the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community; and
- Develop and support programs to educate the legal profession and Asian Pacific American communities in the Chicago-area regarding legal issues affecting those communities.
As part of achieving its goals, each year the AABA Law Foundation will award scholarships to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to serving the needs of the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community and who will continue to serve the needs of the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community through pro bono, public interest, and/or public service legal work. This year, the AABA Law Foundation intends to award one scholarship for $5,000 to a law student who has exemplified that commitment. The AABA Law Foundation will be accepting applications for its 2017-2018 scholarship from November 1, 2017 – May 1, 2018.
The AABA Law Foundation intends to organize fundraising events and solicit contributions from lawyers, corporations and the community to support its activities. The AABA Law Foundation can only continue its work through the generosity of donors. To donate online:
